George Villiers, the first Duke of Buckingham, is assassinated by John Felton. (23. August 1628)

The Siege of La Rochelle, which had lasted for 14 months, ends with the surrender of the Huguenots. (28. October 1628)

Writs issued in February by Charles I of England mandate that every county in England (not just seaport towns) pay ship tax by this date. (1. March 1628)

The Petition of Right, a major English constitutional document, was granted the Royal Assent by Charles I and became law. (7. June 1628)
