The dirigible Wingfoot Air Express crashes into the Illinois Trust and Savings Building in Chicago, Illinois, killing 12 people. (21. July 1919)
Admiral Ludwig von Reuter scuttles the German fleet in Scapa Flow, Orkney. The nine sailors killed are the last casualties of World War I. (21. June 1919)
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Adolfo Luque becomes the first Latin player to appear in a World Series. (3. October 1919)
Polish–Soviet War: The Polish army launches the Vilna offensive to capture Vilnius in modern Lithuania. (16. April 1919)
