Turkish Cypriot Bayrak Radio begins transmitting in Cyprus after Turkish Cypriots are forcibly excluded from Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation. (25. December 1963)

A BAC One-Eleven prototype airliner crashes in UK with the loss of all on board. (22. October 1963)

The dam containing the Baldwin Hills Reservoir bursts, killing five people and damaging hundreds of homes in Los Angeles, California. (14. December 1963)

Wunder von Lengede: In Germany, eleven miners are rescued from a collapsed mine after 14 days. (7. November 1963)

Vietnam War: Following the November 1 coup and execution of President Ngo Dinh Diem, coup leader General Duong Van Minh takes over leadership of South Vietnam. (6. November 1963)

An explosion at the Indiana State Fair Coliseum (now Pepsi Coliseum) in Indianapolis kills 74 people and injures another 400 during an ice skating show. A faulty propane tank connection in a concession stand is blamed. (31. October 1963)

The cruise ship Lakonia burns 180 miles (290 km) north of Madeira, Portugal with the loss of 128 lives. (22. December 1963)

South Vietnamese President Ngô Đình Diệm is assassinated following a military coup. (2. November 1963)

Pan Am Flight 214, a Boeing 707, is struck by lightning and crashes near Elkton, Maryland, killing all 81 people on board. (8. December 1963)

In the first live, televised murder, Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged assassin of President John F. Kennedy, is murdered two days after the assassination, by Jack Ruby in the basement of Dallas police department headquarters. (24. November 1963)

Kenya gains its independence from the United Kingdom. (12. December 1963)

A violent coup in Honduras pre-empts the October 13 election, ends a period of reform, and begins two decades of military rule. (3. October 1963)

John F. Kennedy signs the ratification of the Partial Test Ban Treaty. (7. October 1963)

The Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "I Saw Her Standing There" are released in the United States, marking the beginning of Beatlemania on an international level. (26. December 1963)

Trans-Canada Air Lines Flight 831 crashes shortly after takeoff from Montreal-Dorval International Airport, killing all 118 people on board. (29. November 1963)
