Zakho: A terrorist explosion in a market in the city of Zakho leaves about 100 dead and 150 wounded. (27. February 1995)

Sweden, Austria, and Finland are admitted into the European Union. (1. January 1995)

The Korean War Veterans Memorial is dedicated in Washington, D.C.. (27. July 1995)

On the Caribbean island of Montserrat, the Soufrière Hills volcano erupts. Over the course of several years, it devastates the island, destroying the capital and forcing most of the population to flee. (18. July 1995)

289 people are killed and 265 injured in Baku Metro fire, the deadliest subway disaster. (28. October 1995)

Shawn Nelson, 35, steals a tank from a National Guard Armory in San Diego, destroying cars and other property and is shot to death by police after immobilizing the tank. (18. May 1995)

Third Taiwan Strait Crisis: The People's Liberation Army begins firing missiles into the waters north of Taiwan. (21. July 1995)

André Dallaire attempts to assassinate Prime Minister Jean Chrétien of Canada. He is thwarted when the Prime Minister's wife locks the door. (5. November 1995)

Yolanda Saldívar is found guilty of first degree murder in the shooting death of popular Latin singer Selena. Three days later, Saldívar was sentenced to life in prison, eligible for parole in 2025 (23. October 1995)

In Culpeper, Virginia, the actor Christopher Reeve is paralyzed from the neck down after falling from his horse in a riding competition. (27. May 1995)

Bob Denard and a group of mercenaries take the islands of Comoros in a coup. (28. September 1995)

United States Air Force Captain Scott O'Grady's F-16 is shot down over Bosnia while patrolling the NATO no-fly zone. (2. June 1995)

A gas bottle explodes in Saint Michel station of line B of the RER (Paris regional train network). Eight are killed and 80 wounded. (25. July 1995)

U.S. President Bill Clinton becomes the first President to visit Northern Ireland. (30. April 1995)
