Tupelo-Gainesville tornado outbreak: Another tornado from the same storm system as the Tupelo tornado hits Gainesville, Georgia, killing 203. (6. April 1936)

Italian troops occupy Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. (5. May 1936)

The Russian animation studio Soyuzmultfilm is founded. (10. June 1936)

Second Italo-Abyssinian War: Italian troops launched the Battle of Amba Aradam against Ethiopian defenders. (10. February 1936)

Bruno Richard Hauptmann is executed for the kidnapping and death of Charles Augustus Lindbergh, Jr., the baby son of pilot Charles Lindbergh. (3. April 1936)

Edward VIII becomes King of the United Kingdom. (20. January 1936)
