The association football club Alianza Lima is founded in Lima, Peru, under the name Sport Alianza. (15. February 1901)

Australia opens its first parliament in Melbourne. (9. May 1901)

The first great Texas oil gusher is discovered at Spindletop in Beaumont, Texas. (10. January 1901)

J. P. Morgan incorporates the United States Steel Corporation. (25. February 1901)

Edward VII is proclaimed King after the death of his mother, Queen Victoria. (22. January 1901)

The Pan-American Exposition opens in Buffalo, New York. (1. May 1901)

Kiowa land in Oklahoma is opened for white settlement, effectively dissolving the contiguous reservation. (6. August 1901)
