The Chicago Race Riot erupts after a racial incident occurred on a South Side beach, leading to 38 fatalities and 537 injuries over a five-day period. (27. July 1919)

The Republic of Prekmurje ends. (6. June 1919)

Following Peace Day celebrations marking the end of World War I, ex-servicemen riot and burn down Luton Town Hall. (19. July 1919)

Admiral Ludwig von Reuter scuttles the German fleet in Scapa Flow, Orkney. The nine sailors killed are the last casualties of World War I. (21. June 1919)

Jallianwala Bagh massacre: British troops gun down at least 379 unarmed demonstrators in Amritsar, India; at least 1200 are wounded. (13. April 1919)

Sette giugno: Four people were killed in a riot in Malta. (7. June 1919)

The eight-hour day and free Sunday become law for workers in the Netherlands. (11. July 1919)

John Alcock and Arthur Brown complete the first nonstop transatlantic flight when they reach Clifden, County Galway, Ireland. (15. June 1919)

Mexican Revolution leader Emiliano Zapata is ambushed and shot dead by government forces in Morelos. (10. April 1919)

The U.S. Congress passes the Volstead Act over President Woodrow Wilson's veto, paving the way for Prohibition to begin the following January. (28. October 1919)

The constitution of the Weimar Republic is adopted. (11. August 1919)

The dirigible Wingfoot Air Express crashes into the Illinois Trust and Savings Building in Chicago, Illinois, killing 12 people. (21. July 1919)

May Fourth Movement: Student demonstrations take place in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China, protesting the Treaty of Versailles, which transferred Chinese territory to Japan. (4. May 1919)

Greek invasion of İzmir. During the invasion, the Greek army kills or wounds 350 Turks. Those responsible are punished by the Greek Commander Aristides Stergiades. (15. May 1919)

Edward George Honey first proposes the idea of a moment of silence to commemorate The Armistice of World War I, which later results in the creation of Remembrance Day. In the United States it was called Armistice Day and is now Veterans Day. (8. May 1919)

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi orders a general strike. (6. April 1919)

Sir Barton wins the Belmont Stakes, becoming the first horse to win the Triple Crown. (11. June 1919)

U.S. Marines invade Honduras. (11. September 1919)

The Netherlands gives women the right to vote. (18. September 1919)
