Vietnam War: U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara announces his resignation. (29. November 1967)

Australians vote in favor of a constitutional referendum granting the Australian government the power to make laws to benefit Indigenous Australians and to count them in the national census. (27. May 1967)

The People's Republic of China announces a successful test of its first thermonuclear weapon. (17. June 1967)

Omar Ali Saifuddin III of Brunei abdicates in favour of his son, His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. (4. October 1967)

During an official state visit to Canada, French President Charles de Gaulle declares to a crowd of over 100,000 in Montreal: Vive le Québec libre! ("Long live free Quebec!"). The statement, interpreted as support for Quebec independence, delighted many Quebecers but angered the Canadian government and many English Canadians. (24. July 1967)

Montreal's World Fair, Expo 67, closes with over 50 million visitors. (29. October 1967)

Cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov dies in Soyuz 1 when its parachute fails to open. He is the first human to die during a space mission. (24. April 1967)

A day after being captured, Marxist revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara is executed for attempting to incite a revolution in Bolivia. (9. October 1967)

Vietnam War: Acting on optimistic reports that he had been given on November 13, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson tells the nation that, while much remained to be done, "We are inflicting greater losses than we're taking...We are making progress." (17. November 1967)

After refusing induction into the United States Army the day before (citing religious reasons), Muhammad Ali is stripped of his boxing title. (29. April 1967)
