Three-time Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna is killed in an accident during the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola. (1. May 1994)

Formula One racing driver Roland Ratzenberger is killed in a crash during the qualifying session of the San Marino Grand Prix run at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari outside Imola, Italy. (30. April 1994)
Mosque of Abraham massacre: In the Cave of the Patriarchs in the West Bank city of Hebron, Baruch Goldstein opens fire with an automatic rifle, killing 29 Palestinian worshippers and injuring 125 more before being subdued and beaten to death by survivors. (25. February 1994)
Byron De La Beckwith is convicted of the 1963 murder of civil rights leader Medgar Evers. (5. February 1994)
China Airlines Flight 140 crashes at Nagoya Airport in Japan, killing 264 of the 271 people on board. (26. April 1994)
