The Vienna Concert Society rioted during a performance of mordernist music by Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg, Alexander von Zemlinsky, and Anton von Webern, causing a premature end to the concert due to violence. This concert became known as the Skandalkonzert. (31. March 1913)

Dedication of the Lincoln Highway, the first automobile highway across United States. (31. October 1913)

President Woodrow Wilson triggers the explosion of the Gamboa Dike thus ending construction on the Panama Canal. (10. October 1913)

Igor Stravinsky's ballet score The Rite of Spring receives its premiere performance in Paris, France, provoking a riot. (29. May 1913)

Second Balkan War: Serbian forces begin their siege of the Bulgarian city of Vidin; the siege is later called off when the war ends. (12. July 1913)

The Nevill Ground's pavilion is destroyed in a suffragette arson attack becoming the only cricket ground to be attacked by suffragettes. (11. April 1913)

Thousands of women march in a suffrage parade in Washington, D.C. (3. March 1913)

Sung Chiao-jen, a founder of the Chinese Nationalist Party, is wounded in an assassination attempt and dies 2 days later. (20. March 1913)

American Civil War veterans begin arriving at the Great Reunion of 1913. (25. June 1913)

Emily Davison, a suffragette, runs out in front of King George V's horse, Anmer, at the Epsom Derby. She is trampled, never regains consciousness and dies a few days later. (4. June 1913)

The Federal Reserve Act is signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson, creating the Federal Reserve System. (23. December 1913)

Second Balkan War: The Greeks defeat the Bulgarians in the Battle of Doiran. (23. June 1913)

Police attack a union rally during the Dublin Lock-out, killing two people and injuring hundreds. (31. August 1913)

Crete, having obtained self rule from Turkey after the First Balkan War, is annexed by Greece. (1. December 1913)
