Gustav Vasa, the Swedish regent, is elected king of Sweden, marking a symbolic end to the Kalmar Union. This is the Swedish national day. (6. June 1523)

Jacques Cartier is the first European to discover the Saint Lawrence River. (9. June 1534)

French forces are driven out of northern Italy by Spain at the Battle of Landriano during the War of the League of Cognac. (21. June 1529)

Fatahillah chased away Portugal from Sunda Kelapa harbour, and peoples celebrated it as birthday of Jakarta, Indonesia. (22. June 1527)

Henry VIII and François I sign a secret treaty against Emperor Charles V. (23. June 1532)

Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon are crowned King and Queen of England. (24. June 1509)

The Anabaptist state of Münster is conquered and disbanded. (24. June 1535)

At the Diet of Augsburg the Augsburg Confession is presented to the Holy Roman Emperor by the Lutheran princes and Electors of Germany. (25. June 1530)

Francisco Pizarro is assassinated in Lima by the son of his former companion and later antagonist, Diego Almagro the younger. Almagro is later caught and executed. (26. June 1541)
