Chaco War ends: a truce is called between Bolivia and Paraguay who had been fighting since 1932. (10. June 1935)

Sir Malcolm Campbell reaches a speed of 304.331 miles per hour on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, becoming the first person to drive an automobile over 300 mph (3. September 1935)

George II of Greece regains his throne through a popular, though possible fixed, plebiscite. (3. November 1935)

Diplomatic relations between the Soviet Union and Colombia are established. (25. June 1935)

Leonarde Keeler tests the first polygraph machine. (2. February 1935)

The China Clipper, the first plane to offer commercial transpacific air service, takes off from Alameda, California, for its first commercial flight. It reaches its destination, Manila, a week later. (22. November 1935)

Second Italo-Abyssinian War: Italy invades Ethiopia under General de Bono. (3. October 1935)

A plebiscite in Saarland shows that 90.3% of those voting wish to join Nazi Germany. (13. January 1935)

A coup d'état by the royalist leadership of the Greek Armed Forces takes place in Athens. It overthrows the government of Panagis Tsaldaris and establishes a regency under Georgios Kondylis, effectively ending the Second Hellenic Republic. (10. October 1935)

A 7.7 Mw earthquake destroys Quetta in modern-day Pakistan killing 40,000. (31. May 1935)

The Polish Constitution of 1935 is adopted. (23. April 1935)

The Congress of Industrial Organizations is founded in Atlantic City, New Jersey, by eight trade unions belonging to the American Federation of Labor. (9. November 1935)

First flight of the Bristol Blenheim. (12. April 1935)

The Works Progress Administration is formed when the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935 becomes law. (8. April 1935)

First flight of the Douglas DC-3. (17. December 1935)

New Deal: The Supreme Court of the United States declares the National Industrial Recovery Act to be unconstitutional in A.L.A. Schechter Poultry Corp. v. United States, (295 U.S. 495). (27. May 1935)

The Long March, a mammoth retreat undertaken by the armed forces of the Chinese Communist Party a year prior, ends. (20. October 1935)

The Downtown Athletic Club Trophy, later renamed the Heisman Trophy, is awarded for the first time. The winner is halfback Jay Berwanger of the University of Chicago. (9. December 1935)
