War of 1812: The climax of the Battle of Plattsburgh, a major United States victory in the war. (11. September 1814)

Napoleonic Wars: Austrian forces repel French troops in the Battle of Arcis-sur-Aube. (21. March 1814)

War of 1812: General Phineas Riall advances toward the Niagara River to halt Jacob Brown's American invaders. (24. July 1814)

Chilean War of Independence: Infighting between the rebel forces of José Miguel Carrera and Bernardo O'Higgins erupts in the Battle of Las Tres Acequias. (26. August 1814)

The Constitution of Norway is signed and Crown Prince Christian Frederick of Denmark is elected King of Norway by the Norwegian Constituent Assembly. (17. May 1814)

British troops invade Washington, D.C. and during the Burning of Washington the White House, the Capitol and many other buildings are set ablaze. (24. August 1814)

Napoleonic Wars: War of the Sixth Coalition – the Treaty of Paris (1814) is signed returning French borders to their 1792 extent. Napoleon I is exiled to Elba. (30. May 1814)

Francis Scott Key finishes his poem "Defence of Fort McHenry", later to be the lyrics of "The Star-Spangled Banner". (17. September 1814)

Nominal beginning of the Bourbon Restoration; anniversary date that Napoleon abdicates and is exiled to Elba. (6. April 1814)

Napoleon I of France is defeated at the Battle of Laon in France. (10. March 1814)

Joachim Murat issues the Rimini Declaration which would later inspire Italian Unification. (30. March 1814)

Americans defeat British forces at the Battle of Longwoods between London, Ontario and Thamesville, near present-day Wardsville, Ontario. (4. March 1814)

King Ferdinand VII of Spain signs the Decrete of the 4th of May, returning Spain to absolutism. (4. May 1814)

Napoleon abdicates for the first time and names his son Napoleon II as Emperor of the French. (4. April 1814)

The Treaty of Fontainebleau ends the War of the Sixth Coalition against Napoleon Bonaparte, and forces him to abdicate unconditionally for the first time. (11. April 1814)

Battle of Rancagua: Spanish Royalists troops under Mariano Osorio defeats rebel Chilean forces of Bernardo O'Higgins and Jose Miguel Carrera. (2. October 1814)
