Expo 67 officially opens in Montreal, Canada with a large opening ceremony broadcast around the world. It opens to the public the next day. (27. April 1967)

Dr. Zakir Hussain becomes the third President of India. He is the first Muslim President of the Indian Union. He holds this position until August 24, 1969. (13. May 1967)

The People's Republic of China announces a successful test of its first thermonuclear weapon. (17. June 1967)

Martin Luther King, Jr. delivers his "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence" speech in New York City's Riverside Church. (4. April 1967)

The people of Gibraltar vote to remain a British dependency rather than becoming part of Spain. (10. September 1967)

The Popular Movement of the Revolution political party is established in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. (20. May 1967)

Stockport Air Disaster: British Midland flight G-ALHG crashes in Hopes Carr, Stockport, killing 72 passengers and crew. (4. June 1967)

Dagen H in Sweden: traffic changes from driving on the left to driving on the right overnight. (3. September 1967)

Nigerian Civil War: Nigerian forces invade Biafra, beginning the war. (6. July 1967)

12th Street Riot: in Detroit, Michigan, one of the worst riots in United States history begins on 12th Street in the predominantly African American inner city. It will leave 43 killed, 342 injured and 1,400 buildings burned. (23. July 1967)

After refusing induction into the United States Army the day before (citing religious reasons), Muhammad Ali is stripped of his boxing title. (29. April 1967)

Mariner program: Mariner 5 is launched towards Venus. (14. June 1967)
