A federal grand jury in Alexandria, Virginia, indicts 13 Saudis and a Lebanese in the 1996 bombing of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia that killed 19 American servicemen. (21. June 2001)

Bandaranaike Airport attack is carried out by 14 Tamil Tiger commandos, all died in this attack. They destroyed 11 Aircraft (mostly military) and damaged 15, there are no civilian casualties. This incident slowed down Sri Lankan economy. (24. July 2001)

Gyanendra, the last King of Nepal, ascends to the throne after the massacre in the Royal Palace. (4. June 2001)

Slobodan Milošević is deported to ICTY to stand trial. (28. June 2001)

Timothy McVeigh is executed for his role in the Oklahoma City bombing. (11. June 2001)

Tropical Storm Allison makes landfall on the upper-Texas coastline as a strong tropical storm and dumps large amounts of rain over Houston. The storm causes $5.5 billion in damages, making Allison the costliest tropical storm in U.S. history. (5. June 2001)

Andrea Yates, in an attempt to save her young children from Satan, drowns all five of them in a bathtub in Houston, Texas. (20. June 2001)

Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, the last Tsar of Bulgaria when he was a child, is sworn in as Prime Minister of Bulgaria, becoming the first monarch in history to regain political power through democratic election to a different office. (24. July 2001)

At the conclusion of a fireworks display on Okura Beach in Akashi, Hyōgo, Japan, 11 people are killed and more than 120 are injured when a pedestrian footbridge connecting the beach to JR Asagiri railway station becomes overcrowded and people leaving the event fall down in a domino effect. (21. July 2001)
