An Amtrak Sunset Limited train is derailed by saboteurs near Palo Verde, Arizona. (9. October 1995)

Armenia adopts its constitution, four years after its independence from the Soviet Union. (5. July 1995)

Third Taiwan Strait Crisis: The People's Liberation Army begins firing missiles into the waters north of Taiwan. (21. July 1995)

Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Mossad agents assassinate Islamic Jihad leader Fathi Shikaki in his hotel in Malta. (26. October 1995)

In the Bosnian War, under the command of General Ratko Mladić, Serbia begins its attack on the Bosnian town of Srebrenica, and kills more than 8000 Bosniaks, in what then- UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali called "the worst crime on European soil since the Second World War". (6. July 1995)

Body Worlds opens in Tokyo, Japan (14. September 1995)

The Skye Bridge is opened. (16. October 1995)

On the Caribbean island of Montserrat, the Soufrière Hills volcano erupts. Over the course of several years, it devastates the island, destroying the capital and forcing most of the population to flee. (18. July 1995)

The city of Knin, a significant Serb stronghold, is captured by Croatian forces during Operation Storm. The date is celebrated in Croatia as Victory Day. (5. August 1995)

Cal Ripken Jr of the Baltimore Orioles plays in his 2,131st consecutive game, breaking a record that stood for 56 years. (6. September 1995)

The United States Navy disbands Fighter Squadron 84 (VF-84), nicknamed the "Jolly Rogers". (29. September 1995)

The Million Man March occurs in Washington, D.C. (16. October 1995)

289 people are killed and 265 injured in Baku Metro fire, the deadliest subway disaster. (28. October 1995)

Oklahoma City bombing: Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols are indicted for the bombing. Michael Fortier pleads guilty in a plea-bargain for his testimony. (10. August 1995)

51 Pegasi is discovered to be the second major star apart from the Sun to have a planet orbiting around it. (6. October 1995)
