NASA loses radio contact with the Magellan spacecraft as the probe descends into the thick atmosphere of Venus (the spacecraft presumably burned up in the atmosphere). (12. October 1994)

Frank Eugene Corder crashes a single-engine Cessna 150 into the White House's south lawn, striking the West wing and killing himself. (12. September 1994)

The Clementine space probe launches. (25. January 1994)

The journal Nature reports the finding in Ethiopia of the first complete Australopithecus afarensis skull. (31. March 1994)

Former Arkansas state worker Paula Jones files a lawsuit against President Bill Clinton, alleging that he had sexually harassed her in 1991. (6. May 1994)

Bosnia's Bosniaks and Croats signed the Washington Agreement, ending war between the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and establishing the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (18. March 1994)

In South Africa, Zulus and African National Congress supporters battle in central Johannesburg, resulting in 18 deaths. (28. March 1994)

The Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, The Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin, and the Foreign Minister of Israel, Shimon Peres, receive the Nobel Peace Prize for their role in the establishment of the Oslo Accords and the framing of the future Palestinian Self Government. (14. October 1994)

Aldrich Ames and his wife are charged by the United States Department of Justice with spying for the Soviet Union. (22. February 1994)

A United States Air Force (USAF) F-16 aircraft collides with a USAF C-130 at Pope Air Force Base and then crashes, killing 24 United States Army soldiers on the ground. This later became known as the Green Ramp disaster. (23. March 1994)
