The Daoist monk Wang Yuanlu discovers the Dunhuang manuscripts, a cache of ancient texts that are of great historical and religious significance, in the Mogao Caves of Dunhuang, China. (25. June 1900)

Second Boer War: British forces occupy Bloemfontein, Orange Free State. (13. March 1900)

The German liner SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse becomes the first ship to send wireless signals to shore. (7. March 1900)
