Northern Ireland peace deal reached (Good Friday Agreement). (10. April 1998)

Race riots break out in Jakarta, Indonesia, where shops owned by Indonesians of Chinese descent are looted and women raped. (13. May 1998)

A tornado sweeps through Dantan in India killing 250 people and injuring 3000 others. (24. March 1998)
