Four men convicted of bombing the World Trade Center in New York in 1993 are each sentenced to 240 years in prison. (24. May 1994)

South African general election, 1994: The first democratic general election in South Africa, in which black citizens could vote. The Interim Constitution comes into force. (27. April 1994)

Copyright Law: The U.S. Supreme Court rules that parodies of an original work are generally covered by the doctrine of fair use. (7. March 1994)

Frank Eugene Corder crashes a single-engine Cessna 150 into the White House's south lawn, striking the West wing and killing himself. (12. September 1994)

The car ferry MS Estonia sinks in Baltic Sea, killing 852 people. (28. September 1994)

Aeroflot Flight 593 crashes in Siberia when the pilot's fifteen-year old son accidentally disengages the autopilot, killing all 75 people on board. (23. March 1994)

The British government lifts the broadcasting ban imposed against members of Sinn Féin and Irish paramilitary groups in 1988. (16. September 1994)

The journal Nature reports the finding in Ethiopia of the first complete Australopithecus afarensis skull. (31. March 1994)

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and French President François Mitterrand officiate at the opening of the Channel Tunnel. (6. May 1994)

Rwandan Genocide: Massacres of Tutsis begin in Kigali, Rwanda. (7. April 1994)

The Major League Baseball season is canceled because of a strike. (14. September 1994)

Bosnia's Bosniaks and Croats signed the Washington Agreement, ending war between the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and establishing the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (18. March 1994)

Sino-Soviet Split: Russia and the People's Republic of China agree to de-target their nuclear weapons against each other. (3. September 1994)

Former Arkansas state worker Paula Jones files a lawsuit against President Bill Clinton, alleging that he had sexually harassed her in 1991. (6. May 1994)

Major League Baseball players go on strike. This will force the cancellation of the 1994 World Series. (12. August 1994)

Malawi holds its first multi-party elections. (17. May 1994)

Eugene Bullard, the only black pilot in World War I, is posthumously commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. (23. August 1994)

Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO leader Yasser Arafat sign a peace accord regarding Palestinian autonomy granting self-rule in the Gaza Strip and Jericho. (4. May 1994)
