Varney Airlines makes its first commercial flight (Varney is the root company of United Airlines). (6. April 1926)

Japan's public broadcasting company, Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai (NHK) is established. (20. August 1926)
The deadliest November tornado outbreak in U.S. history strikes on Thanksgiving day. Twenty-seven twisters of great strength are reported in the Midwest, including the strongest November tornado, an estimated F4, that devastates Heber Springs, Arkansas. There are 51 deaths in Arkansas alone, 76 deaths and over 400 injuries in all. (25. November 1926)
The United States Numbered Highway System, including U.S. Route 66, is established. (11. November 1926)
J. Gordon Whitehead sucker punches magician Harry Houdini in the stomach in Montreal, precipitating his death. (22. October 1926)
Harry Houdini's last performance, which is at the Garrick Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. (24. October 1926)
