The deadliest November tornado outbreak in U.S. history strikes on Thanksgiving day. Twenty-seven twisters of great strength are reported in the Midwest, including the strongest November tornado, an estimated F4, that devastates Heber Springs, Arkansas. There are 51 deaths in Arkansas alone, 76 deaths and over 400 injuries in all. (25. November 1926)
In the United States the National Broadcasting Company is formed. (9. September 1926)
George Bernard Shaw refuses to accept the money for his Nobel Prize, saying, "I can forgive Alfred Nobel for inventing dynamite, but only a fiend in human form could have invented the Nobel Prize." (18. November 1926)
Emperor Taishō of Japan dies. His son, Prince Hirohito, succeeds him as Emperor Shōwa. (25. December 1926)
