Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms in history hits the Visayas region in the Philippines. The typhoon killed 6,201 people as of 29 January 2014 and was considered the typhoon in the country. It caused around $1 billion in damages unofficially. (8. November 2013)

At least 75 people are killed in a suicide bombing at a church in Peshawar, Pakistan. (22. September 2013)

China successfully launches the Bolivian Túpac Katari 1 from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. (20. December 2013)

A rare late-season tornado outbreak strikes the Midwest. Illinois and Indiana are most affected with tornado reports as far north as lower Michigan. In all around six dozen tornadoes touch down in approximately an 11-hour time period, including seven EF3 and two EF4 tornadoes. (17. November 2013)
