Jamestown massacre: Algonquian Indians kill 347 English settlers around Jamestown, Virginia, a third of the colony's population, during the Second Anglo-Powhatan War. (22. March 1622)

The Massachusetts Bay Colony outlaws the possession of cards, dice, and gaming tables. (22. March 1630)

Anne Hutchinson is expelled from Massachusetts Bay Colony for religious dissent. (22. March 1638)

James VI of Scotland also becomes James I of England, upon the death of Elizabeth I. (24. March 1603)

Tokugawa Ieyasu is granted the title of shogun from Emperor Go-Yozei, and establishes the Tokugawa Shogunate in Edo, Japan. (24. March 1603)

The first settlers arrive in Maryland. (25. March 1634)
