The Everett Massacre takes place in Everett, Washington as political differences lead to a shoot-out between the Industrial Workers of the World organizers and local police. (5. November 1916)

The Irish Nationalist and British diplomat Sir Roger Casement is sentenced to death for his part in the Easter Rising. (29. June 1916)
