Portuguese Restoration War: Portuguese and Spanish forces both claim victory in the Battle of Montijo. (26. May 1644)

Alse Young, hanged in Hartford, Connecticut, becomes the first person executed as a witch in the British American colonies. (26. May 1647)

Manchu regent Dorgon defeats rebel leader Li Zicheng of the Shun dynasty at the Battle of Shanhai Pass, allowing the Manchus to enter and conquer the capital city of Beijing. (27. May 1644)

Bolton Massacre by Royalist troops under the command of James Stanley, 7th Earl of Derby. (28. May 1644)

Publication of La Gazette, the first French newspaper. (30. May 1631)

Thirty Years' War: the Peace of Prague is signed. (30. May 1635)
