Corporal Frank S. Scott of the United States Army becomes the first enlisted man to die in an airplane crash. He and pilot Lt. Lewis C. Rockwell are killed in the crash of an Army Wright Model B at College Park, Maryland. (28. September 1912)

Marie-Adélaïde, the eldest of six daughters of Guillaume IV, becomes the first reigning Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. (25. February 1912)

First Balkan War: The Serbian Army captures Bitola, ending the five-century-long Ottoman rule of Macedonia. (19. November 1912)

First Balkan War: The Royal Hellenic Navy defeats the Ottoman Navy at the Battle of Elli. (16. December 1912)

Japan's Emperor Meiji dies and is succeeded by his son Yoshihito, who is now known as the Emperor Taishō. (30. July 1912)

Roald Amundsen announces that his expedition had reached the South Pole on December 14, 1911. (7. March 1912)

First Balkan War: The Greek Army liberates the city of Kozani. (11. October 1912)

Alaska becomes a United States territory. (24. August 1912)

King George I of Greece makes a triumphal entry into Thessaloniki after it's liberation from 482 years of Ottoman rule. (12. November 1912)

The Xuantong Emperor, the last Emperor of China, abdicates. (12. February 1912)

Woodrow Wilson is elected to the presidency of the United States. (5. November 1912)

First Balkan War begins: Montenegro declares war against the Ottoman Empire. (8. October 1912)

The Cunard liner RMS Carpathia brings 705 survivors from the RMS Titanic to New York City. (18. April 1912)

Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, and Serbia (the Balkan League) sign an armistice with the Ottoman Empire, temporarily halting the First Balkan War. (The armistice will expire on February 3, 1913, and hostilities will resume.) (3. December 1912)

The Regina Cyclone hits Regina, Saskatchewan, killing 28. It remains Canada's deadliest tornado event. (30. June 1912)
