The establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. (13. April 1919)

After nearly 20 years of planning and construction, including two collapses causing 89 deaths, the Quebec Bridge opens to traffic. (3. December 1919)

Greek invasion of İzmir. During the invasion, the Greek army kills or wounds 350 Turks. Those responsible are punished by the Greek Commander Aristides Stergiades. (15. May 1919)

The American Legion is incorporated. (16. September 1919)

Lady Astor becomes the first female Member of Parliament to take her seat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. (She had been elected to that position on November 28.) (1. December 1919)

American anarchist Emma Goldman is deported to Russia. (21. December 1919)

U.S. President Woodrow Wilson suffers a massive stroke, leaving him partially paralyzed. (2. October 1919)

German socialist Kurt Eisner is assassinated. His death results in the establishment of the Bavarian Soviet Republic and parliament and government fleeing Munich, Germany. (21. February 1919)

The first national convention of the American Legion is held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, ending on November 12. (10. November 1919)

Afghanistan gains full independence from the United Kingdom. (19. August 1919)

Jallianwala Bagh massacre: British troops gun down at least 379 unarmed demonstrators in Amritsar, India; at least 1200 are wounded. (13. April 1919)

German national assembly adopts the Weimar Constitution, which comes into force on August 14. (31. July 1919)

King George V of the United Kingdom proclaims Armistice Day (later Remembrance Day). The idea is first suggested by Edward George Honey. (17. November 1919)

The British dirigible R34 lands in New York, completing the first crossing of the Atlantic Ocean by an airship. (6. July 1919)

John Alcock and Arthur Brown complete the first nonstop transatlantic flight when they reach Clifden, County Galway, Ireland. (15. June 1919)

The first Palmer Raid is conducted on the second anniversary of the Russian Revolution. Over 10,000 suspected communists and anarchists are arrested in twenty-three different U.S. cities. (7. November 1919)

The Republic of Prekmurje is founded. (29. May 1919)

The NC-4 aircraft arrives in Lisbon after completing the first transatlantic flight. (27. May 1919)

The British airship R34 lands in Norfolk, England, completing the first airship return journey across the Atlantic in 182 hours of flight. (13. July 1919)
