Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity is tested (later confirmed) by Arthur Eddington and Andrew Claude de la Cherois Crommelin. (29. May 1919)

Greek invasion of İzmir. During the invasion, the Greek army kills or wounds 350 Turks. Those responsible are punished by the Greek Commander Aristides Stergiades. (15. May 1919)

Mexican Revolution leader Emiliano Zapata is ambushed and shot dead by government forces in Morelos. (10. April 1919)

The steel strike of 1919, led by the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers, begins in Pennsylvania before spreading across the United States. (22. September 1919)

The Chicago Race Riot erupts after a racial incident occurred on a South Side beach, leading to 38 fatalities and 537 injuries over a five-day period. (27. July 1919)

Estonian War of Independence: the decisive defeat of the Baltische Landeswehr in the Battle of Cesis. This day is celebrated as Victory Day in Estonia. (23. June 1919)

The American Legion is incorporated. (16. September 1919)

Edward George Honey first proposes the idea of a moment of silence to commemorate The Armistice of World War I, which later results in the creation of Remembrance Day. In the United States it was called Armistice Day and is now Veterans Day. (8. May 1919)

The British airship R34 lands in Norfolk, England, completing the first airship return journey across the Atlantic in 182 hours of flight. (13. July 1919)

The Republic of Prekmurje ends. (6. June 1919)

The dirigible Wingfoot Air Express crashes into the Illinois Trust and Savings Building in Chicago, Illinois, killing 12 people. (21. July 1919)

The Treaty of Versailles is signed in Paris, bringing fighting to an end in between Germany and the Allies of World War I. (28. June 1919)

Race riots begin in Omaha, Nebraska, US. (28. September 1919)

In Milan, Italy, Benito Mussolini founds his Fascist political movement. (23. March 1919)

Following Peace Day celebrations marking the end of World War I, ex-servicemen riot and burn down Luton Town Hall. (19. July 1919)

Adolf Hitler joins the German Workers Party (later the Nazi Party). (12. September 1919)

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who founded the Republic of Turkey, gathers a congress in Sivas to make decisions as to the future of Anatolia and Thrace. (4. September 1919)
